ClickAid mouse helper 

ClickAid is a FREE stand-alone on-screen mouse aid designed for anyone who has difficulty switching between mouse buttons or double clicking on a physical computer mouse. It will work with all mouse systems including head mouse and touch screen devices. ClickAid functions can be accessed by clicking on the form or optionally by using AutoSelect dwelling to enable the functions to be selected by hovering the mouse pointer over the buttons. 

ClickAid was designed with ease of use foremost in mind. The main form is icon based and does not require reading skills or language translation. Even a young child can use it.  Yes, it's FREE. No charge and no strings attached. 

ClickAid is a 32 bit Windows^® application and runs on the following operating systems: Windows^® NT4.x/2000/XP/Vista/Windows 7 and later both 32 bit and 64 bit.  Sorry it does NOT run on Windows 9x or ME.

Notice, the buttons are big so you can hit them.  Of course, when not in use ClickAid can be hidden so it's out of your way but ready to pop up with the sweep of the mouse pointer. • Version 3.0.3.0 - Made changes to trayicon. Allow mouse wheel to work. Fixed a problem with ClickAid exiting.
• Simple Chinese Language Pack for ClickAid provided by Cosmo from China (Mainland).

• ClickAid now has a Pause and Continue option on the taskbar icon.
• Requires .NET Framework 4.5 or later.
• ClickAid now uses CABootHelper.exe to run at boot.  Unfortunately some antivirus software miss identifies this program as infected. It is not.  If you want ClickAid to run at boot you may have to exclude CABootHelper.exe from your antivirus.
• Manual left click and drag and left double click are no longer supported.  You must use ClickAid to perform these functions.

Why ClickAid
We've come to realize the not all of our users are severely handicapped.  Many just need a little help.  They may use a head mouse but have difficulty switching between right and left clicking or the can use all the buttons but double clicking is difficult.  Point-N-Click is more than they really need.  So we aim to please.  :-)

Available Language Packs - Currently ClickAid is using a modified version of the Point-N-Click translations. Most but not all phrases are translated.

Translate Menus and Messages:
Although the unmodified ClickAid was designed for a decidedly English speaking user community, the ability to change the displayed text of Menus and Messages, makes its use in other languages possible.  Translating all the text displayed by ClickAid is beyond the capability of Polital Enterprises.  This task should also not be left for the end user, but rather delegated to a "Translator."  Once the Translator has completed their job, a single resource file may be placed in the ClickAid Install Folder, and ClickAid will "speak" the new language.  Translators should read and follow the Help file instructions to translate the Messages-English.txt template provided with ClickAid.

Hopefully the lack of a language pack for a particular language will not present serious problems for the user since the main user interface is icon based and only the configuration program text needs translation.

Download Instructions For Language Packs: After downloading the language pack run it. It will install the Messages.txt in your ClickAid directory.  That's all there is to it.

We encourage anyone using the Message Translation feature to donate the files they've worked on, so others may benefit from an edition of ClickAid that functions in their language.  Below you will find:

• Currently ClickAid is unable to send keys to programs that have been started by the User Account Control.  There are several work-arounds for this problem.  You may use any of them:
  • Close ClickAid and restart it by Right-Clicking its shortcut and choosing "Run as administrator."
  • Or -
  • Set ClickAid to always run as an administrator.  Caution: This will prevent it from being able to Run at Startup. - Right-Click the ClickAid shortcut.  Then choose "Properties".  Under the "Compatibility" tab, check "Run this program as an Administrator".
  • Or -
  • Disable User Account Control temporarily. - Use the Control Panel and Click "User Accounts and Family Safety".  Click "User Accounts" and select "Turn User Account Control on or off".  Uncheck "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer."  Click "Ok" and reboot.
   

    Fixes in version 1.28.0

• A Drag option has been added.  When selected the first click will start the drag and the second click will end it.  You click twice to perform a drag function.

• ClickAid can now hide without docking.  If hide is set without docking ClickAid will reduce to a small icon when not in use.  If you don't see the icon just mouse over the icon on the system tray to have ClickAid flash it's location.  This allows you to move ClickAid to a place near where you are working and reduces mouse movement needed between clicks.
• Some bugs related to hiding have been fixed.

• The Minimize button on the titlebar [_] didn't always work.

Downloading and Installing ClickAid:
 

Follow the instructions below to smoothly remove ClickAid from your system.  You can use the Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs .  Although you may use Window’s “Control Panel | Add|Remove Programs”, you will find it easier to smoothly remove ClickAid from your system by following the steps below:

• Exit ClickAid (if it is running)

• From the Start | Programs | ClickAid menu select "Uninstall ClickAid.

• The “Uninstall ClickAid” Form will pop up.

• This applet gives you total control over how you want to uninstall l ClickAid, but the first check box is all you need to be concerned with.

  • If you intend to reinstall a newer version of ClickAid, just leave this box . (Suggested for upgrading from legacy version)

  • If you want to get rid of f ClickAid forever, Uncheck this box.

• Click the Remove ClickAid from my system button.

• When prompted again about completely removing ClickAid, Click the "Yes" button.
